About

The Club is affiliated to the Photographic Alliance of Great Britain through the Midland Counties Photographic Federation.

The Club's first meeting was held on Tuesday 3rd February 1976 in a room at the Royal Exchange in Walsall Wood. This meeting was an informal get-together involving four local people who shared an interest in photography. During its first year other people joined and it became a viable Club. The Club decided that its aims should be clearly thought out and written down. These are :-

  • To promote and encourage all aspects of photography.
  • To encourage beginners to learn and practise the methods and techniques of photography and to expand their interest.
  • To provide a friendly atmosphere in which discussion and constructive critism may take place about member's photographs.
During the intervening years, the Club has grown and developed and has always welcomed any changes or new technology which might help our photography.

We meet each Tuesday evening at 8.00pm at St. John's Community Hall, St. John's Church, Lichfield Road, Walsall Wood, Walsall which is situated on the A461 Walsall/Lichfield Road approximately one mile south of its junction with the A452 Chester Road. Our meetings last for around two hours with a break for coffee and biscuits half way through. Membership costs just £10.00 for the present season which runs from September to             June of the following year. In addition there is a weekly attendance fee of £1.00 payable per evening.

We have a varied and interesting programme of events which consist of a mixture of talks, presentations, competitions, practical and social evenings. We invite guest speakers to the club on a regular basis and also encourage contributions from our own club members who wish to share their photographic knowledge and expertise. We hold a number of internal and inter club competitions throughout the season all of which are always well supported by our members. We endeavour to balance our programme to suit all levels of experience from beginners to advanced photographers and also covering both film and digital photography.

The club has been successful in obtaining a lottery grant from Awards for All which has enabled the club to purchase its own laptop computer, digital projector and other items of hi-tec equipment all of which are used from time to time in our weekly meetings.

If any of the above is of interest to you and if you wish to try out a new hobby or wish to improve on your existing photographic knowledge and skills, then why not come along to some of our meetings. If you like what you see and wish to share a common interest in photography with other like minded enthusiasts you will be most welcome to join us.
